TRANCHE 2 IS IN FORCE

AML Health Check

Tranche 2 AML/CTF obligations have applied to law firms since 1 July 2026. The free AML Health Check takes about ten minutes and tells you where your firm stands today, not where you assume it stands. We review your answers and email you your position and the next step, with a fixed-fee quote to follow. No obligation, and no meeting needed to start.

Received an AUSTRAC section 167 notice?

What the Health Check covers

Ten short questions, about 10 minutes

Whether your firm provides designated services and how that was decided, whether your AML/CTF program and risk assessment are adopted and approved, whether a Compliance Officer is appointed, how client due diligence and onboarding actually work day to day, whether escalation and training are current, whether you could evidence a recent matter, and whether AUSTRAC has been in touch with your firm directly, including any formal notice.

Nothing is scored or shown back to you on screen while you're answering. Once you submit, a JurisIT consultant reviews your answers and emails you your position and the next step, so you know exactly what your firm needs to do.

Where does your firm stand?

Every firm is somewhere on this path

Your Health Check answers place your firm in one of these positions. Each next step moves you forward, and you only need the steps that fit where you are.

  • Not sure the Act applies, or you believe it does not. AML Applicability Assessment: we record the facts and the basis for your firm's decision.
  • Not yet in place. Not enrolled, no adopted program, or a starter kit never tailored. AML Program Setup puts it in place.
  • In place, not yet running. Adopted, but not built into how matters are handled. An AML Evidence Review, then AML Integration to build it in.
  • Running, not yet proven. You think it works, but have not tested it. An AML Evidence Review proves it.
  • Proven. The AML Evidence Desk keeps it provable, month by month.
  • Out of date. People, systems, services or rules have changed. An AML Program Review brings it up to date.
  • Leaving. Closing, retiring, selling or merging. AML/CTF records have to be kept for years after a practice changes hands. Tell us in the Health Check and we will scope it with you.

The Health Check takes ten minutes. Closing a gap properly takes weeks, not days. The sooner you know where your firm actually stands, the more runway you have to fix it on your own terms, rather than AUSTRAC's.

Put it in place

AML Program Setup

The most common next step. Fixed-scope work that brings your AML/CTF program up to what the Act requires, built around what your Health Check identifies. Depending on your firm, that can include:

  • Preparing your AUSTRAC enrolment, if your firm needs to enrol
  • Tailoring and formally adopting your AML/CTF program
  • Completing your firm's money laundering and terrorism financing risk assessment
  • Appointing and documenting your AML/CTF Compliance Officer
  • A client onboarding and due diligence checklist, and a documented escalation process
  • Setting a staff training requirement and recording completion
  • Building the onboarding checklist into matter opening in your practice management system, with an evidence register in your own Microsoft 365

We follow up with a written gap letter setting out exactly what we found, and a fixed-fee quote. Fixed scope, fixed fee, confirmed before anything proceeds.

Prove it

AML Evidence Review

For firms whose program is already adopted and approved. A fixed-fee review, confirmed and paid before work begins, of whether your AML/CTF program actually operates the way it's documented to: the designated services you've identified, your governance and Compliance Officer arrangements, your risk assessment, your CDD and escalation processes, your training and record keeping, and your PMS and technology workflow, tested against a sample of recent matters.

It starts with a structured online questionnaire. You receive a written assessment, a prioritised list of gaps and a practical roadmap, backed by a focused review conversation where it's useful.

Where the review finds your program is not yet built into how matters are handled, AML Integration fixes that: matter-opening steps in your practice management system, your identity verification platform set up against your program, and evidence registers in your own Microsoft 365. It is quoted from the review's findings.

Most firms start with the free Health Check, and we'll recommend the Evidence Review if it suits where your firm is. If we've already recommended it to you, continue below.

Does the Act apply to you?

AML Applicability Assessment

If your firm believes it provides no designated services, or is not sure, you still need a record of how that view was reached. We review the services and matter types your firm provides against the designated-service categories, and record the facts and the basis for your firm's decision, ready if an insurer, examiner or AUSTRAC asks. Your firm, or its own lawyer, makes the decision.

Keep it provable

AML Evidence Desk and AML Program Review

Once your program is in place and running, the AML Evidence Desk keeps it that way: a monthly check of new matters against your approved workflow, exceptions returned to your nominated person, registers kept current, and a quarterly report for the principals.

When something changes, such as a new Compliance Officer, a new practice area, a new system or a change in the rules, an AML Program Review updates only what the change requires and records it. For Evidence Desk clients, routine changes are included.

If AUSTRAC has already been in touch

AML Notice Support

If your firm has received a notice or information request from AUSTRAC, tell us when you complete the Health Check and we'll contact you the same business day. AML Notice Support helps you assemble what the notice asks for, inside the deadline: the facts your firm needs to decide whether it is captured, enrolment details if needed, and an indexed record of your documents with a factual chronology. At the same time, we put your program in place.

Your firm, or your lawyer, decides how to respond, and writes, signs and submits the response. We work alongside your lawyer and never deal with AUSTRAC on your behalf. Please don't send us the notice itself by email.

What to expect, step by step

  • Free, about ten minutes: ten questions about where your program actually stands today.
  • Your position and the next step by email, once a consultant has reviewed your answers, without needing to book a call first.
  • No pricing surprises: any quote is fixed-fee and always confirmed with you before work starts.
  • Confidential: your answers go to JurisIT only, to prepare your recommendation. Don't include client names or details of any specific suspicious matter.
  • Any stage welcome, including firms that haven't started an AML/CTF program yet, and firms not sure the Act applies to them.

The Health Check is a self-assessment. It is not an assessment of your firm's compliance and not legal advice. Your firm keeps responsibility for its obligations and every regulated decision.
